Ulta Makeup Finds & Comparisons-Part1

Recently, I started to notice that just above the drugstore price point items were looking really good and wanted to share some that I used today while getting ready. FYI- I purchased these items with my own money.

After using Makeup ForEver’s Step 1 Primer all over my face, I added in the T-zone Benefit’s PoreProfessional ($31USD) to make sure I was good and covered. On the left side of my face I used the Ulta brand Super Blender Sponge (dampened) and the right side e.l.f Online Only pink blender (dampened as well) to apply UD’s All Nighter Foundation (shade 1.0).

Purple, IMO, is easier to navigate. It’s so nice & squishy and much easier to get into the crevices around the nose. Plus, the coverage on the eyelid was smoother. The pink e.l.f one feels like it is better suited for baking. I’ll try that out another day. Both are ~$5USD, but go with the purple one if you are not splurging for a $20 Beauty Blender.

Up next- BROWS! Comparison of Catrice Eyebrow Stylist (Left brow  for $3.99USD) vs Femme Couture Perfect Arch Brow Pencil (Right brow for $6.49). The Catrice is awesome for having a spooley at the end of it, but that is the only redeeming quality. Don’t even try to change it to being a lip liner. Just look at how uneven the lip line is in the pic. It is a don’t buy.  The Femme Couture (which is actually from Sally’s- sorry), is a cheaper price point than Mac’s brow pencil. Trust me, I love Mac’s pencil, but the Femme Couture is almost a  formula dupe.

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Concealer ($4.99USD) is a dupe for Sephora’s Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer ($14.00USD). Makeup is expensive and if I can find something that is a dupe for cheaper, I’m going with it. There is a ton of product that comes out on the NYX applicator, which is just fine for my method to my madness: large triangle under both eyes, highlight forehead with large triangle, center of nose and small upside down triangle on chin blended out with purple blender.

I am a big fan of the liquid lipsticks from Stila ($24USD), but found yet another dupe! It’s the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lip ($6.99USD). There is no difference at all that I could note. Overall this online shopping trip was totally worth it! I am absolutely a convert when it comes to the NYX items and keeping my purple blender instead of of ever going back to the $20 Beauty Blender.

I’ll leave you with the final look:
Contour & Highlight: Makeup ForEver Pro Sculpting Duo Undetectable
Setting Spray: Boscia White Charcoal Spray
Eyelid Shadow: Mac’s Enlightening Pressed Pigment
Inner Eye: Opal bareMinerals Glimmer
Crease Shadow: Mac’s Esther Mineralize Shadow
Liner: Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Mascara: Smashbox’s X Rated
