Review: Catrice’s Prime & Fine Anti-Shine Blur Stick

Picked up this .2oz stick from Ulta for $7.99USD, as I have seen Milk’s Blur Stick ($36USD) everywhere on YouTube. Thought it would be a great item for us to chat about.

Anytime that I am using a new primer, I do not apply any moisturizers, or other skincare straight out of the shower. I do that so that I can get a true impression with this oil slick of skin and get to know the product better. The foundation that I am using, is still Urban Decay’s All Nighter Foundation (find previous posts HERE). I am bound and determined to make it work for me.

Very easy to apply and smooth out with finger tips. Just in case, I took a stiff concealer brush around the nose & under eyes to make sure that there was an even application. Not much product is needed to cover the face. You can tell that this will last a long time and a great value for the price tag compared to the competitors.

Trust me, I see the point of the product. Everyone is looking for that perfect Instagram filtered look and if a blur stick helps, then that’s the way to go! Unfortunately, the combination of the UD Foundation and the Blur Stick did not mesh for me. There was no even application or blending with a damp Beauty Blender type sponge (see my Ulta Comparisons Here). Even after using a stipling brush, we were past the point of no return. No ride or die with this combo.

However, it is perfect under Kat Von D’s Lock It Foundation. I am not the biggest fan of this foundation, but pairing the two products, along with tons of others (concealer, setting powder, contour, blush, highlight, kiss from Chris), gave me 10hrs of wear with no touch ups super needed. Just maybe a blot here and there. I am going to play with CC Creams next to see if it plays well with others. In the meantime, if this saves you $$, go for it at Ulta, and don’t forget to watch for coupons.

If someone can help me figure out why Urban Decay’s foundation doesn’t jive well with others, let me know in the comments below. It would be greatly appreciated!
