Day 16: Has anyone ever told you that your presence is a present? Maybe you’ve never heard it, but I think we’ve all felt it. It’s when gratitude overwhelms us because somehow we know we are just where we’re meant to be, and with just who we’re meant to be with. There’s no pull, no feelings of being torn, no distraction – just pure joy. They’re the moments we’re so engaged with each other that time seems to stop, and we wouldn’t really care if it did.
It seems as though those moments are becoming more and more rare. Social media steals our gaze. Alerts and notifications keep us interrupted. The future of work or passions never stop working in our mind long enough to feel the moment. Demanding or demeaning people in our lives make us question how we’re spending our time, and who we’re spending it with.
So… Today’s #OolaChallenge is to put down your phone from 4-7pm. We aren’t saying ignore your kids’ phone calls and don’t call your mom. We mean keep off social media, let the games wait, follow your heart, and be engaged in the moment. Recognize and appreciate the blessing God has given you by being present, because it’s the only moment that matters.
