Review: L’Occitane Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Milk Concentrate vs Lush Cosmetics Celebrate Lotion

A friend of mine was so nice to let me try her L’Occitane’s Milk Concentrate versus my Lush Cosmetic’s Celebrate Lotion, after arguing as to which is better. She did an awesome job making her point that sounded as she read it off of Sephora’s Website ($50 ouch!):

What it is:
A silky body cream enriched with almond oil and milk for a skin that looks firmer, smoothed, and hydrated for up to 48 hours.

What it is formulated to do:
This super-smooth Milk Concentrate is formulated with powerful almond extracts to melt into the skin and leave it as soft as satin. Skin looks firmer and smoothed thanks to the action of almond proteins, a silicium derivative and a new complex combining a walnut seed extract and an almond tightening extract. Almond milk and oil help nourish and envelop skin with a mouthwatering scent of fresh almonds.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
Almonds are an incredibly delicate fruit to grow: the best almonds require cool air without ever freezing. L’Occitane almonds are sourced from a very special region in Haute Provence, where giant windmills circulate air to create an environment for some of the most delicious and nutritious almonds to grow. L’Occitane supports the sustainability of almond trees in the region, as these trees—while difficult to grow—are a staple to the beauty of the Provencal landscape.

That’s all fantastic, but this aging skin and sagging boobs isn’t going to appear firmer. It can, however, appear hydrated. Let’s just get down to the moisture content instead for arguments sake. I will admit that on the back of my hand, the almond extracts of both lotions do feel nice. However, IMO, life is grander with Celebrate and it’s gorgeous blend of orange flower, lime, benzoin and cognac oil that comes together as a delicate champagne fragrance that lingers for hours.

Sorry for those wondering how to purchase Celebrate! Lush only launches it during the holidays. So sad. So sad. But, if you see pop up, do not be afraid of the $32.95USD price. It comes in a huge container that will last you the year. Let me know in the comments below which is your fav!
