Over 6 billion text messages are sent every day.
Over 100 billion emails are sent and received every day.
It’s so easy to type something up, hit send, and know it’ll be delivered immediately. It can also make it easier to think less about what we’re saying when it’s so easy to hit send.
So… Today’s #OolaChallenge is hand write a letter to someone and send it in the mail. To a lot of us, the thought of handwriting something, finding an envelope, driving to the post office, buying a stamp, and then waiting days for the person to receive something you could’ve just texted or emailed, sounds like a lot of work and extremely inefficient.
But what if we think about what it means to receive one? Our personality is in the handwriting. Our love and thoughtfulness come through a little more prominently because they know we had to put time into it. They know we had to think about the words we were writing and make the effort to seal it and stamp it.
And then there’s the simple joy of knowing the words we physically wrote, they get to hold in their hands to read, and there’s not a much better feeling than going out of your way to make someone’s day.
I didn’t know quite what to write for this challenge, so I just wrote “I LOVE YOU” onto 25 post-its and put them all around the house for Chris to find. “Sweetest thing ever,” was his response. Score!
Now how will you make an impact today? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Monday!
