March 2017 Play by Sephora

Happy Sunday to you! What are you up to today? Later, Chris and I are attending a fundraiser to send a girl to Christian camp this summer. Super excited for her, but still not feeling the greatest. Something is going on with the ol’ intestines that I just can’t seem to shake. Gotta love Crohn’s. Never know what you’re going to feel like.

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Finishing Argan Finishing Balm- The Surreal Deal!
So I probably should have read the directions better on this little jar. I thought that, much like most Finishing Balms I have used in the past, one can use it as a primer and then a second time as a finisher. I love multi-tasking products! Unfortunately, for me, when using liquid foundation over the balm, it doesn’t melt into my skin with a damp beauty blender. It streaks, leaves uneven areas, etc. Then, I went onto Sephora.com and noticed that using it on the high points of the face, that one will have more success. Under mineral based makeup, you will have a ton of success. Don’t be like me and use liquids!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Big Bang- Swipe and Sparkle!
Inside this cute little tube was an amazing amount of pink glitter hiding. Unfortunately, the glitter didn’t show up on my lips. I tried all different ways too. Just primer, with lipliner, over another lipstick, etc. The formula is creamy, but doesn’t last like my Mac Cosmetics lippies. I think that I will have to try some others from the line first, before truly ruling this out. For now, it’s a nope.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal- Public Display of Perfection!
I wouldn’t classify this color as opal. To me, opal should be free of hints of gold. There is a pinky effect, but not silvery pink. It is more pinky gold on my pale complexion. No worries at all, because I am keeping this cutie for when we are out on the boat and not willing to use foundation. Mix with a little SPF and you’re good to go in the hot sun! Will I repurchase once the tube is empty? Probably not. Liquid highlighters just don’t work on this oil slick.

Atelier Cologne Clementine California- Divine Clementine!
Scent samples are always welcomed, despite preferring essential oils that are going to make an impact on my quest for a healthier living. Citrus oils are some of my favorite! This cologne rocks! It has so many different levels to it. It is bright. It is sweet. It is peppery. I could even see Chris being able to wear this one. Below are the notes, which I do have many of these essential oils. I think I am going to recreate this one in the diffuser later!
Notes:
Clementine, Mandarin, Juniper Berries, Star Anise, Sichuan Pepper, Basilica, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cypress.

GlamGlow GlowStarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer
To use, one can apply over or under foundation. I am just not having any luck lately when I put anything other than powder over foundation. Foundation, as well as concealer started to move. Blame it on the weather, but we were having a beautiful Saturday that called for a mid-afternoon nap! Once I woke up, my makeup looked EXACTLY like when I feel asleep, but with some oil in the T Zone. Normally, I have no issues bouncing a damp beauty blender all over before some touch up powder, but I had to really swipe everywhere to get an even look again. I think that if you are going to use this moisturizer, you need to stear towards mineral or powder foundation instead.

Verb Ghost Oil
I wear HotHeads Extensions and only add oil to my ends after my hair is completely dry and styled. This oil is so much of a “ghost” that I didn’t notice hydration, like most oils. It just sunk in! I think that natural hair is a better way of testing to see how it react with my tresses. I am saving the rest of this little guy for when I am not wearing extensions, to see what my natural thinks of it.

Overall, I think that for $10/mon Sephora has done a great job with this subscription service. I do feel that it was paired with me perfectly. My favorite has to be that perfume. No wait, the Becca Skin Perfector. Ugh. I really cannot decide. I think it is because the lake is starting rise, and I am just to dang excited to get back out on the boat.

Whatever algorithms Sephora is using, they need to keep that Software Developer happy! I will continue receiving these each month. But, I always wonder, how can they make it even better next month? What did you get this month?

Looking forward to April!
