Review: Ipsy February 2017

I know every month, I say the same thing. I love this $10 subscription service, and this month is no different. I received some really great full sized products in my bag. It doesn’t appear that any item was a sample.

Bag- durable, denim and orange. Perfect for throwing in my purse and reusing without the worry of it falling apart. Their bags always seem to be durable.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry- I love a deep burgundy color just like the next gal, but I think that I have fallen prey to the liquid lipsticks out there that last most of the day. Just not really a tube of lipstick type of gal anymore. However, this is nice and moisturizing, which is a good trade off. Hey Mom- I’ll leave this one on your vanity when you come to visit!

BioBelle Sheets Masks #IWokeUpLikeThis & #StayGrogeous- These masks are to enhance skin’s natural glow, hydrate and nourish. I love the fact that these fiber sheet masks are paraban & gluten free with no GMO’s. Plus, the fiber used in the mask (Tencel), is manufactured with wood from a sustainable forest. However, I do not feel like they are for us oily skinned girls. The size is perfect for my face shape, however I found it strange to rinse the serums off, rather than massage in. There is way too much serum in the envelopes, compared to not being able to massage the excess. I’m saving the #StayGrogeous one for when I go for my next chemical peel, in case I have any flaking I want to pass quickly.

Japonesque Coconut Solid Brush Cleaner- lovely coconut scent. Almost vacation-like. I tried this out on an eyeliner brush from last night that I had a smokey grey color on. Unfortunately, when using a baby wipe after to see if all color rinsed clean, there was some still left on the bristles. I guess I am too picky when it comes to performance of brush cleaners. I do wash mine after each use, as I never know what color I am going to wear next.

Hikari Cosmetics Creme Eyeshadow Pigment in Latte- I love using Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. That gets every color to pop and stay all day for me. A TON of copper came out on this one, but as an eyeshadow, it didn’t work for me. I have too oily of skin everywhere (including my lids). However, I am a great multi tasker. Using this as a base for lipstick (or as a lip shade or instead of a primer) works so much better! I set it with a little Clare Blanc mineral eyeshadow in Earth Spirit, and got 8hrs with no touch ups. Score!

Luxie Beauty Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514- I have tried a couple brushes from this brand and have come to the conclusion that the bristles to the metal piece where they are attached, are too long and not dense enough. If you have a super dark blush that you would like to be extremely light handed with, then this will perform how you would want. For me, I would rather prefer to blend it out on my own. I guess I am in the pilot seat that way, and happier.

Overall, despite some misses, I am happy and will continue this monthly bag. If you would like a $10/mon subscription bag of your own, feel free to click my REFERRAL LINK! Or, feel free to compare to this month’s Sephora Play.
