North Carolina New Year Bubbly- Biltmore Estate Brut

Happy New Year! What did you drink at midnight?

Out of all the bottles in the cellar, friends chose this one for the late night celebration toast. Totally shocked, but totally pleased to drink a wine from our new home state. It’s only been a little over a year since moving here full time, and we still have not experienced 1/1000th of all North Carolina has to offer.

We have been meaning to take a trip over to the Biltmore, but we will have to settle for buying this bottle at the local Harris Teeter (where it is cheaper anyway). Listen to this: Harris Teeter sells this bottle for under $20 and per the website Buy Here!, they charge almost $25 at the winery. So is the trip out there going to be worth it for wine buying when I can drive 4mi to Harris Teeter and save the $$? Haven’t determined that yet, but what we did figure out, is that this bubbly has 0.9%RS = no brain fog in the morning.

The Biltmore Estate Brut, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, is actually refreshing.  It offers a good balance of citrus and strawberries with hints of honey and apricot. It is easy to drink and not a bad idea to keep on hand when the time calls for some celebration!
